SAFETY

Safety is a top priority at Century and this responsibility starts with our Chief Executive Officer and extends throughout the entire company. There is a continual focus on not only maintaining a safe working environment but also on each employee working in a safe and conscientious manner. We are committed to the well being of every employee and also to others who work alongside our employees on each project. Century administers its safety program under the direction of a full time safety director and two full time regional safety managers. The regional safety managers are continually engaged in site visitation and review to ensure safety program compliance.

Century’s safety program objectives are achieved through enforcement of the following policies.

  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Post employment random and post accident drug and alcohol screening.
  • DMV record screening for all vehicle and equipment operators.
  • 30 hour OSHA course for the president, all vice presidents, all project managers, all project and office engineers, all field engineers, all superintendents, all foremen, and various lead men and operators.
  • Mandatory attendance for all superintendents and foremen at bi-weekly safety meetings.
  • Weekly “tool box” safety meetings on all project sites.
  • Crane operator’s certification by NCCO and/or OSHA crane testing service.
  • Mandatory 100% tie-off.
  • Mandatory hard hats, safety glasses and safety vests on all projects.
  • Daily safety check for all tools and equipment.
  • Ongoing safety training by safety team and other management personnel to all levels within the company.
  • OSHA compliant or better on all projects.

Safety is taken seriously at Century and our program is incorporated into each phase of the work from pre-project planning to project completion. We are committed to safety with NO EXCEPTIONS!
